Chevrolet Corvette Z03 Concept by Ugursahin Design

Ugur Sahin Design which was founded in the summer of 2007 by Axel van Mourik and Ugur Sahin is positioning the company as a high end design partner and coachbuilder capable of producing limited edition vehicles utilizing existing manufacturers chassis. Manufacturers chassis being reviewed for additional design projects include Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Automotive design and coach building firm Ugur Sahin Design announced plans to build a Chevrolet Corvette Supercar entitled the Corvette Z03 Concept. The vehicle will be built in a limited production of just 100 units utilizing the platform of the world renown Corvette Z06 and will have a restyled body made of carbon fiber. Beyond the rebodied exterior, modifications will be made to the power plant, suspension and interior.

Ford Taurus SHO on Test Drive

Lightning must strike every ten years or so in Dearborn since that was the last time we saw a Taurus SHO roll out of a Ford factory. The polarizing style of the jellybean-shaped Taurus was one that you either loved or hated, but by 1999, the car was merely a shadow of its former self.

With Yamaha-designed V6 engines underhood, the Taurus S-H-Os (Ess-aych-oh, not SHO as in “really big show”) were the sleepers of the highway, able to blow off many imports and domestics without even breaking sweat. Various mishaps and missteps resulted in the model being pulled from production in 1999, mostly due to lack of interest and neglect.

MITSUBISHI Concept-RA is powered by a new high-efficiency, low-emissions 2.2-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbodiesel engine with MIVEC*6 continuously variable valve timing control. With piezoelectric injector common-rail direct fuel injection that allows a lower compression ratio and with a VD (Variable Diffuser)/VG (Variable Geometry) turbocharger, the clean diesel unit delivers a maximum output of 150 kW (204 PS) and maximum torque of 420 Nm (42.8 kg-m). For compliance with U.S. emissions standards (Tier 2 Bin 5 emission regulations), the engine relies on a new catalytic converter system that brings together diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), NOx trap catalyst (NTC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies. The new diesel engine will deliver exciting driving manners with a high degree of fuel efficiency.

2011 Audi R8 Spider Supercar Review

The R8 has been a phenomenal success for Audi, simultaneously raising the company’s profile and allowing it to compete in the rarefied air of the supercar segment for the first time. Certainly in its latest V10 guise, the coupe’s Porsche-like top speed of 194 mph — not to mention rapierlike handling — gives Audi sporting credentials it had not previously enjoyed.

The Spyder, like all current Audis, truly surpasses the competition when it comes to the fit and finish inside the cabin. The leather seat coverings are of high quality, the instrument gauge design still pleasing and the switchgear easily operated, if a little too numerous. As for the actual build quality, the Spyder has the tightest gap between its stowable roof and the windshield frame of any convertible in recent memory.

Unlike the coupe, which was first introduced in its V8 guise, the Spyder is currently only available with Audi’s 5.2-liter V10 (Audi says production at its Neckarsulm plant is limited, so why not build the most profitable model?). That means a spec sheet boasting 525 hp and 391 pound-feet of torque.

The other specification in the power department that bears noticing is the 6,500-rpm peak for all that torque. That’s unusually high, especially for such a large engine with such an undersquare design (the 3.3-inch bore is much smaller than the longish 3.7-inch stroke). Yet the Spyder, like the coupe, thrives on revs, the party not shutting down until the rev limiters kick in at 8,700 rpm (when the pistons are traveling at a very F1-like 26.9 meters per second).

PIVO, New Design Concept By Nissan

Designers made the most of Nissan’s Compact Lithium-Ion Battery – which, being flat, requires much less space than conventional cylindrical cells and achieves remarkable packaging efficiency.

Pivo, which will be on display at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, features an innovative cabin that revolves 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse. Thanks to its compact body, the car is also exceptionally easy to maneuver.

Pivo is powered by Nissan’s compact, high-performance lithium-ion battery and its unique Super Motor, resulting in zero emissions.

The gallery space for the Pivo event, which was designed by Murakami, features a futuristic vegetable garden installation, as well as large balloons and illustrations of ‘Pivo-chan,’ a character he designed based on the concept car’s inspiring image.
